April is a quiet time in Woodstock, Vermont as the area recovers from the Winter and slowly creeps into Spring. The weather is always unpredictable as Mother Nature tries to decide if Winter is still here or if Spring has finally arrived. During this quiet time a lot of merchants take a short vacation (so call before you make a planned trip for shopping or eating out to make sure they are open). Also since restaurants are not usually heavily booked there are many specials. Here are the ones I’ve noticed advertised recently:

Spooner’s Bar & Grille – Located in the Sunset Farm Building in Woodstock, this restaurant was revitalized last year as Spooner’s Restaurant. On Monday nights in April it is offering “all special entrees” for $9.95 457-4066

Prince and Pauper – a lovely restaurant in downtown Woodstock which is usually a little out of the budget has a special in April – Starting Apr. 12th, Prince and Pauper offers Bistro Entrees for only $14 every Sun. – Thurs. 457-1818

Woodstock Inn & Resort has specials until Apr. 23rd at their two eateries: Red Rooster [lunch ($9.95)and dinner ($19.95)] 1-800 448-7900 and at Richardson’s Tavern – a lighter dinner ($9.95)  457-6671

Special events are also usually advertised on the bulletin board at the convenience store/gas station on the corner in Woodstock.
